Greetings,
I have posted a note to the Learning Commons group in Second.
After our meeting Feb 4th there was brief discussion concerning possible collaboration among the nursing educators in SL.
How t his would work can be an interesting discussion and a place to start thinking about the future.
I have written below 6 points that we can think about. If you have others please speak up and add them.
It never hurts to discuss the issues.
Collaboration Discussion:
1. To seek funds to develop and support the efforts of nursing education in Second Life. Possibly forming a group that will investigate the effectiveness of immersive technologies and viability of collaborative education through a large research grant
2. Develop means to work collaboratively with technical support issues.
3. Develop means to share educational resources. (I am a librarian one thing we might be able to share is library resources. For instance creating an inter-library loan group using NLM’s Docline specifically for Second Life users.)
4. Develop a training system to encourage other nursing educators to use SL’s technologies.
5. Develop a global perspective collaborating with international institutions on the first four items.
6. To develop means to recruit new nurses to our programs in Second Life.
Respond here or to the Learning Commons for Nurses Group in SL. I'll post in both locations
